Check out this great video sharing the experience of volunteering with us in Cambodia.
This is possibly the most heart-opening adventure you’ll ever experience. It’s truly life-changing for the recipient family and volunteers alike.
We organise almost everything for our volunteers and personally host the experience. No building skills are required; just a willingness to participate! Do as much or little as you are comfortable with. Simply interact with the locals for the whole time if you like. It will be life-changing either way.
The following is included when you volunteer with Global Transition Foundation:
Highly Recommended Optional Upgrade (departing 2 days earlier)
Not included: Other meals, visa, travel insurance, background checks, optional tours, etc.
*As required per project site. Timetable subject to adjustments.
#Each adult volunteer must be able to provide a cleared Working With Children Check or National Police Check, and a travel insurance certificate (covering medical evacuation).
~Minimum fundraising/donation applies.
Join us on your adventure of a lifetime! Together, we can create lasting change and improve the lives of those in need.
A home provides a sense of security and belonging. It is a foundational need for children to thrive.
During the recent rule of the Khmer Rouge, up to three million people were killed in Cambodia.
Almost a quarter of its population.
Poverty remains rife, following this devastating oppression, and recovery is slow.
Sixty two percent of the Cambodian population, currently lives in inadequate, one-bedroom housing. Homes that are too small, with leaking walls and ceilings, and no access to power or sanitation.
It costs Global Transitions Foundation approximately $6,500 per house build. This includes materials, pre-fabrication, solar power, water well, water filtration, separate toilet, and home basics package. Any surplus funds are used towards the associated further education centre.
We aim to take groups of volunteers at least twice yearly to build homes in Cambodia and give people an experience of a lifetime.
Please reach us at info@globaltransitions.org.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Not really. We have had volunteers aged from 6 to 66 on our build projects. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult guardian.
Only as much as you feel comfortable doing. We will be at the build site for about 5 half-days. No building skills are required. The local builders are helpful, understanding and patient. Water and electrolytes are provided. We also encourage resting and interacting/playing with the locals.
We will send you plenty of detailed information well before your departure date so that you are well prepared for your upcoming adventure.
